A COAD is a national model that calls for a collaborative network of organizations, businesses, and local government entities working together to enhance community resilience and response in times of disaster. Encouraged by both FEMA and IEMA, COAD’s play the crucial role of coordinating emergency human services at the very basic community level. Our Mission

Our mission is to strengthen the community’s ability to withstand and recover from emergencies by fostering partnerships, sharing resources, and supporting comprehensive disaster planning.

Disaster Ready Illinois Valley works to facilitate effective coordination and collaboration among our members to address the challenges posed by disasters. We prioritize preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of our community members.

COAD Committees

Volunteer Management

Recruits, trains, and deploys volunteers to support disaster response and recovery efforts.

Mass Care

Identifies and coordinates sheltering and care resources for people.

Donations Management

Collects and distributes in-kind donations received during a disaster.

Agriculture

Supports agricultural systems to ensure producers, organizations and communities have access to disasterrelated information and resources. Works with social services networks and government agencies to address food insecurity, distribution, and safety

Emotional & Spiritual Care

Provides emotional and spiritual support to individuals and families coping with disaster-related trauma.
