DRIV operates as a COAD or Community Organizations Active In a Disaster.
A COAD is a national model that calls for a collaborative network of organizations, businesses, and local government entities working together to enhance community resilience and response in times of disaster. Encouraged by both FEMA and IEMA, COAD’s play the crucial role of coordinating emergency human services at the very basic community level. Our mission is to strengthen the community’s ability to withstand and recover from emergencies by fostering partnerships, sharing resources, and supporting comprehensive disaster planning.
Disaster Ready Illinois Valley works to facilitate effective coordination and collaboration among our members to address the challenges posed by disasters. We prioritize preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of our community members.
